OUR STORY
Situated in the heart of the picturesque Welsh market town of Hay-on-Wye, Hawthorn serves as the personal gallery and permanent exhibition space of Welsh artist Barry Martin-Andrews. Born in South Wales and now a long-standing resident of Hay-on-Wye, Barry creates evocative, contemporary Welsh landscapes. His unique artistic process blends an array of materials, including inks, pigments, soot, ash, charcoal, tannin, metal powders, and graphite—often incorporating unexpected elements that inspire his creativity.
In addition to Barry’s artwork, Hawthorn offers a thoughtfully curated selection of handcrafted pieces, including Jewellery, Woodturning, Leatherwork, Cards, and guest collections from talented local artists and makers.
